Reading at Home
Children need support to develop the habit and love of reading.
Whether your child is still learning to read through phonics or is reading longer texts independently, reading at home is absolutely key to developing their confidence with this incredibly important skill. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to share time and bond, whether this is you reading to them or them reading to you or other family members. Studies have shown that reading for enjoyment is one of the biggest predictors of educational success, meaning it is vital that we do as the Open University says, ‘Just relax and read’.
